Weekend Wisconsin Cannabis News Briefs May 29-31

The Assembly Committee on Children and Families will hold a public hearing on AB 228, the bill to repair last sessions CBD law (2013 Wisconsin Act 267), on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 1:01 pm in 415 Northwest at the Capitol. AB 228 would eliminate the requirement that people have a prescription for cannabidiol (CBD) oil in order to use it.

Bipartisan Wisconsin CBD bill would strike need for prescription

Legislation to repair last session's CBD law is now in the legislature.

Legislation introduced by Sen. Van Wanggaard that would eliminate the requirement that people have a prescription for cannabidiol (CBD) oil in order to use it has been assigned a bill number and committee. Under the proposal, people could not be prosecuted simply for possessing the oil.

Rep. Considine to Introduce Bipartisan Industrial Hemp Bill at Capitol press conference Wed. May 6th

Good news in that Wisconsin will again see bipartisan industrial hemp legislation this session.

Rep. Dave Considine (D-Baraboo) will be holding a press conference at 11am Wed May 6 in the Assembly Parlor to introduce his new hemp bill LRB 1692. Considine's proposal has been circulating among lawmakers and already has a number of cosponsors

Wisconsin congressional delegation splits on medical cannabis for veterans

It's getting closer but most of the GOP are still not willing to take care of veterans in need. Medical cannabis is a useful tool in healing our wounded warriors.

The U.S. House of Representatives yesterday narrowly rejected an amendment by Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Oregon) to allow the Veteran's Administration to help veterans access medical marijuana by a 213-210 vote. The Wisconsin delegation split along party lines with the state's three Democrats, Reps. Ron Kind, Gwen Moore and Mark Pocan voting in favor and the five Republicans, Reps. Sean Duffy, Glenn Grothman, Reid Ribble, Paul Ryan and F. James Sensenbrenner voting against veteran access to medical cannabis.
