The Isthmus has published an article they have been working on about medical cannabis in Wisconsin after the winning referendums, and after the GOP red tide that extinguished hopes of change for the moment.

Madison NORML: Saturday Global Cannabis Freedom March - Madison to spotlight failed war on pot

MADISON: While a majority of elected officials in Wisconsin continue to support continued criminalization of even the medical use of cannabis, other states are moving forward. And while the 16 states that have legalized medical cannabis have benefited greatly from the new medical cannabis industry that has created thousands of good jobs along with new tax revenues, Wisconsin continues to fall behind.

This Saturday April 30, 2011, medical cannabis patients, cannabis/hemp activists and members of the public will gather at the Wisconsin Capitol's State St. Steps for a rally and parade: the Global Cannabis Freedom March - Madison. This annual event highlights how the failed war on cannabis continues to harm society in ways we do not even understand. The unintended consequences of a supposedly free society continuing its prohibition of a non toxic herb that literally built this nation negatively impacts each American and each Wisconsinite every day whether we utilize cannabis or not.

The Global Cannabis Freedom March: Madison will begin around 11am Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the State St. steps of the WI Capitol, as activists gather. At around noon, several speakers will rally the crowd and attendees will then parade down State St. ending up at the Mifflin St. Block Party.

What: Global Cannabis Freedom March: Madison

When: Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11 am, Rally & Parade at noon.

Where: Gather & Rally at State St. steps of Capitol, March to Mifflin St. Block Party

Who: Speakers: Gary Storck, Madison NORML, Charles Wachtel, Wisconsin Veterans for Medical Cannabis Access and Author TA Sedlak.

Why: The end of cannabis prohibition is long overdue!

Madison NORML Examiner: 4/20 cannabis celebrations light up Madison and beyond

Posted by Gary Storck
Sunday, April 17, 2011

Despite marijuana prohibition, Wisconsinites will still be celebrating the cannabis plant April 20. Here's a look at some Wisconsin events!

Madison NORML Examiner: 4/20 cannabis celebrations light up Madison and beyond

MADISON: While Spring officially arrived about a month ago, its attendance has been spotty, and the forecast for April 20 "4/20", the annual high holiday of cannabis, currently calls for temperatures in the 40s, with a slight chance of light rain in the afternoon. This is a far cry from the moderate temps and sunny skies of 4/20/2010 when more than a hundred 4/20 revelers ascended Bascom Hill on the UW-Madison campus for a 4:20 celebration.

Madison NORML Examiner: Wisconsin Bill banning “fake marijuana” to get public hearing

Posted by Gary Storck
Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Here is my report on the upcoming hearing on AB57, the "fake pot" ban, with my take on the whole synthetic marijuana prohibition game and its role as an extension of marijuana prohibition.

Wisconsin Bill banning “fake marijuana” to get public hearing

MADISON: State Rep. Garey Bies (R-Sturgeon Bay), announced he will convene a public hearing this month for Assembly Bill 57, the legislation he wrote to prohibit so-called "synthetic marijuana" products in Wisconsin. Bies' bill would create new criminal penalties for possession and sale of products marketed under names such as K2 and Spice. AB57 is set to get a hearing April 21, 2011 at the State Capitol before the Assembly's Criminal Justice Committee, chaired by Rep. Bies, a 30-year veteran of law enforcement.

THIS SATURDAY IN MADISON: Medical Cannabis protest at WI Medical Society Annual Meeting

Posted by Gary Stoprck
Thursday, April 7, 2011

After the Wisconsin Medical Society helped lawmakers kill last session's medical cannabis bill, patients and their supporters protested at every day of the society's 2010 conference. This year, while they may not cover the entire event, medical cannabis patients will be back!

Saturday April 9, 2011
Time 12-3 pm
Location Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center Wilson St. at MLK, Downtown Madison

Look for us out front between Wilson St. and the Monona Terrace Center itself, also on the bike path on the Lake Monona side of the building.

The Wisconsin State Medical Society (SMS) has been a thorn in the side of Wisconsin's medical cannabis movement for decades. While doctors in clinics often discuss cannabis with patients or even recommend patients use it, the SMS has been hostile to medical cannabis, providing testimony against at every hearing held by the WI State Legislature going back many years.

The face of the Society's compassion-free position has been Dr. Michael Miller. Dr. Miller made numerous misleading, incorrect and untrue statements during his Dec. 15, 2009 testimony for the combined Health Committee hearing on current legislation before the State Legislature AB554/SB368, the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act (JRMMA).

For four days in April 2010, medical cannabis patients and their supporters protested outside the SMS Fundraiser and Annual Meeting at Monona Terrace Convention Center in Downtown Madison.

This year, activists again plan to protest at the 2011 State Medical Society Conference, being held at Monona Terrace the weekend of April 7-10.

Please join us this Saturday afternoon as medical cannabis patients and supporters return for another peaceful informational picket at Monona Terrace. Activists plan to be there Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 12 noon to 3:00pm.

New research and clinical trials continue to demonstrate that medical cannabis is a safe and effective medicine whether smoked, vaporized, ingested in capsules, foods, tinctures, topical salves or other methods. It is unconscionable for a Medical Society to continue to oppose a proven safe and effective medicine used by mankind for millennia. Their position means the state's largest physician's group continues to support the current law that criminalizes Wisconsin medical cannabis and the patients who need it today - Seniors, Veterans, the Sick, Disabled and the Dying!
