While the Wisconsin Legislature completed its regular session leaving the Jacki Rickert MMJ Act among unfinished business, the fight for medical cannabis in Wisconsin continues. Below are details of an event in Tomah on May 15.

Pass the JRMMA Activism Meeting
Type: Meetings - Informational Meeting
Date: Saturday, May 15, 2010
Time: 12:00pm - 4:00pm
Location: Mr Ed's Tee Pee
Street: 812 Superior Avenue
City/Town: Tomah, WI

JRMMA.org, IMMLY and Wisconsin NORML present an activist meeting at Mr. Ed's Tee Pee, centrally located in downtown Tomah WI. The Tee Pee is owned by Ed Thompson.

Join Jacki Rickert, Ben Masel, Gary Storck and other Wisconsin medical cannabis activists as we plan the next phase in passing a Wisconsin medical cannabis law. While the time has run out this session for the JRMMA to pass, activists are working to create a campaign to place local advisory referendums on the ballot this November in cities and villages across Wisconsin. By working to get signatures to place these on the ballot this Spring, we can make medical cannabis a statewide issue in this fall's elections and help make sure the JRMMA is a priority when the new session begins.

Some estimated signature numbers for selected communities:

Lodi 180
Rio 40
Columbus 290
Mondovi 110
Whitewater 750
Ft. Atkinson 610
Mineral Point 120
Platteville 600
Ripon 420
Brandon 50
Altoona 360
Menominee 700
River Falls 685
Prescott 200
Park Falls 135
Baraboo 700
Trempeleau (village) 90
Waunakee 720
Beloit 1,500

At this meeting we will discuss the direct legislation process and provide step by step instructions and sample forms and other tools needed to get a referendum on your local ballot.

We'll also talk about other news and developments in medical cannabis.

Please join us May 15 and help move the JRMMA forward while meeting like-minded people from around the state. Be sure to try the Tee Pee's excellent food offerings.
