Capitol Memorial and Lobby Day to support WI MMJ bill
MADISON: Wisconsin medical cannabis supporters, waiting anxiously as two health committees consider AB554/SB368, the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act (JRMMA), have another opportunity to help. The JRMMA is sponsored by Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Madison) and Sen. Jon Erpenbach (D-Waunakee).
On Wed. Jan. 20, 2010, Is My Medicine Legal YET?, Jacki Rickert's grassroots advocacy group leading the effort to pass the JRMMA, will be coordinating a two-part event at the Wisconsin State Capitol along with Madison NORML and Wisconsin NORML, as well as other groups.
The first, from 12-1pm in the first floor rotunda (one floor up), is a tribute to the late Mary Powers and other patients who ran out of time as well as a call for a change in legislative spirit as it pertains to compassion, the JRMMA and the Wisconsin way.
Following the ceremony, attendees will visit legislative offices to lobby for the JRMMA. Those who cannot attend in person are strongly urged to participate from afar by organizing local phone slams and enlisting as many supporters as possible to call their State Assemblyperson and State Senator.
