Milwaukee's Shepherd Express cover story on medical marijuana

On July 13, the latest edition of the Milwaukee weekly Shepherd Express featured a cover story about medical cannabis, "The Politics of Pot Medical Marijuana Activists Are Just Getting Started." The article, by Lisa Kaiser, is full of common sense questions on why it isn't legal yet, noting things like its strong popular support. It includes interviews with myself, State Rep. Gregg Underheim (R-Oshkosh), sponsor of mmj legislation, State Sen. Tim Carpenter (D-Milwaukee), a cosponsor, and the Marijuana Policy Project's Bruce Mirken. In the paper edition, the article covers three full pages. Since coverage of medical cannabis in Milwaukee's daily Journal-Sentinel is at best minimal, this article goes a long way in raising awareness of this issue and the need for citizens to support it in the Milwaukee area. The 2003 weekly circulation of the Shep-Ex is listed at over 71, 000, and it is distributed over 7 counties. As a weekly, it gets read, often by several people. Read it click here on the Shepherd website.
