Fred Gardner, click here in an article recently published online in Counterpunch, click here wrires, "Marijuana smoking -"even heavy longterm use"- does not cause cancer of the lung, upper airwaves, or esophagus, Donald Tashkin reported at this year's meeting of the International Cannabinoid Research Society. Coming from Tashkin, this conclusion had extra significance for the assembled drug-company and university-based scientists (most of whom get funding from the U.S. National Institute on Drug Abuse)."
The article goes on to describe the study and results and notes that cannabis seems to exhibit a protective effect when used by tobacco smokers.
The study seems to confirm anecdotal observations of my own. And it's a shout out to those in Congress who said cannabis was carcinogenic in the Hinchey debate. Why not study vaporization and other ways of reducing the harm?click here If the technology were not stifled by prohibition, there could be inexpensive vaporizers so more people could use them. Prohibition prohibits common sense.
